The First Few Days Home

I posted some new pics of Foster below. He is a very happy, healthy and hungry baby. He is eating up to 4oz a meal. He only cries when he is hungry or needs a diaper change--other than that he is cooing and just taking in his new world. We are so lucky to have such a content baby! I'm feeling a little better and stronger every day. It will still be a couple of weeks before I'm up and around more like my normal self. Luckily, Grammy has been here to help take care of the house and me and Shane has been able to devote his time to Foster. Little did he know he would be doing all of the diaper changes ;)
Thank you again for all of the love and support we've received throughout my pregnancy and this past week with Foster's arrival.

He is Here!

Foster Henry Floyd was born July 23, 2008 at 2:35 a.m. He was 9lbs 8oz and 21 inches long.
We are home now resting, recovering and getting to know each other. Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes. We are very blessed to have a healthy, happy and heavy baby boy! We can't wait for everyone to meet him. A few pictures are posted below...more to follow.

Lots of Events

Hello Everyone! The countdown is really on now. We have less than three weeks to go until the due date. Of course, who knows when the little one is really going to arrive. Shane and I are both happy with any date after July 12. That's when we are both planning on taking our leave from work.
We celebrated anniversary number three last week and into the weekend. I posted a picture below. We have yet to spend an actual anniversary together, but at least we get to celebrate together at some point.

I had an appointment last week and received another excellent report from the doctor. We are just basically on baby watch from this point out.
I also met with our future pediatrician this week. I think it was definitely a sign that he had on a bow tie with little crabs on it.

The nursery is officially complete! Thank you to everyone who helped put it together. Teresa LaBiche is our magnificent artist who spent countless days perfecting the mural. I also added some pics below of her artwork. The little one is going to be a nature enthusiast just from being surrounded by such beautiful trees and critters. Also, we want to thank Mary Craft for her beautiful work on the curtains and crib bumper. Thank you to "Grammy Liz" (she still doesn't have a name) for the crib bed skirt and pillow. She has started sewing again--and it has been wonderful for the nursery. The pictures don't do the room justice. If you are in town and want to stop by let us know...

Shower Fun

Shane and I had a wonderful time at the shower. Thank you to everyone who helped, it was a very special night for us. We were so happy to see so many of our friends and family. Like Shane said, it was reminiscent of all of the wedding parties from three years ago. I posted a few pics below. There are many, many more, so I'll upload to Snapfish and then email that link to everyone.

We spent the rest of the weekend unpacking presents, organizing the nursery, washing baby clothes and as shown below, testing all of the new gadgets out on Daisy. By the way, Daisy had oral surgery yesterday. Poor thing had four teeth removed! She is resting comfortably at home, but isn't quite herself yet.

We have another doctor's appointment tomorrow, so I'll keep you posted on the visit.

Floating

I finally was able to realize a floating fantasy. I floated at the River on Sunday with the help of some water noodles. It was fantastic! It actually felt like I was unpregnant while floating--all of the weight of the baby had been lifted off of my back and shoulders. For anyone who is pregnant, I highly recommend swimming and floating :) The River weekend also was spent getting the baby's room ready. Christopher put together the crib after several attempts. Thank you to Lori and Randy for loaning us so many wonderful baby things so we can setup a second nursery.

We had an appointment last Thursday and got another glowing report. Everything is on schedule: baby size, my weight, my blood pressure, etc. We are very lucky to have such a healthy pregnancy.

Baby's First Concert

Saturday night was the baby's first concert. Of course, it had to be Tim McGraw! Mary-Kathryn drove up from S.C. and Jennifer came over from Chapel Hill. We had a nice girl's weekend. The Floydster baby kicked the entire time. Needless to say, I was exhausted the next day and ended up taking a two hour nap. There are pictures posted below from the show.

Last Thursday I had my appointment with the new doctor at the new practice. They were absolutely wonderful! I'm so glad we made the decision to change practices. For the first time I had an actual sit down conversation with a doctor and we talked for about 15 minutes about all kinds of things from the baby, to Manteo, to Daisy and Dallas--it was great! Dr. Holton even made sure we called Shane so he could hear the baby's heartbeat. I feel a million times better since that appointment. All is well and everything is on schedule and we are both very healthy.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mothers today. It was my first pre-mother's day. I had lots of nice well wishes from people, cards, texts and emails. Thank you for all of the greetings! Christopher and I drove to Wilmington to see my mother. She just arrived in the Tar Heel state yesterday. We are all so excited that she is here.
I had a doctor's appointment on Thursday. The appointment itself went well, but after some deliberation, Shane and I decided to change practices. The practice had seven rotating doctors and I still haven't seen all of them, including my regular doctor. I felt like a sprocket going through the assembly line! I have switched to a smaller practice with just two doctors and Shane and I are thrilled about the personal attention I'll be getting, but especially knowing who will be delivering our baby.

29 week update

Not much is new this week. Everything seems to be just fine--I'm feeling great. I have another doctor's appointment on Thursday and my next yoga sessions begin Thursday as well. The Floydster baby's newest trick is stretching. He loves to stretch as much as possible. This has started to be a little uncomfortable for me. Sometimes the baby bump takes on very weird shapes as he moves around and tries to get comfortable. I posted a new picture below of me and the bump at 29 weeks. I'll keep you updated after my appointment.

Latest Appointment

I had my 26 week checkup on Thursday. Shane was able to go with me and he heard the baby's heartbeat for the first time. Again, the Floydster baby was moving around so much it took the doctor a few tries to get a steady heartbeat reading. Everything went well and I received another excellent health report. We did find out there will not be any more ultrasounds, so what you see posted is what we'll have.
We did get to register this weekend which was a lot of fun. It was actually much easier than the wedding registry. We just went for the basic necessities and a few fun items, but kept it simple. Shane also spent quite a bit of time working on the nursery again. I'm not going to post any pictures while we are working on it--just the finished product. He did paint, finish the cradle and finished the dresser/changing table.
Posted below is a pic of the baby bump next to the tracing log we've been keeping. I'm officially at 27 weeks--only 90 days to go! Three months from today is the due date....

Yoga Stretch

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent the majority of mine of the edge of my seat cheering the Tar Heels to victory. I have said this many times before...this has been a stressful season to be a pregnant Tar Heel. They seem to love the close games! If anyone didn't receive a bracket invitation and would like one, shoot me an email and I'll invite you to join Coast2Coast for our annual bracket competition.

On to baby updates...I started prenatal yoga last week. I'll go once a week for 6 weeks. It was a wonderful hour to just relax and breathe. It was the first time I was around other pregnant women. We spent the first part of class introducing ourselves, due dates, baby gender and discussing our most annoying ailments. I think for most people in the class sharing some of their stories was the best part. You get a lot of truly sympathetic feedback! I've mentioned before that the baby Floydster is very active. He was kicking up a storm in yoga. Somehow I've got to get him in a more relaxed state when I'm meditating--haha. He also decided to kick me as hard as he possibly could during Mass yesterday. I literally jumped off the pew in church. We are now officially at 22 weeks. I will continue to post updates. Have a great week!

Busy Weekend

We had a very busy weekend with baby preparations. Our Rock Star Baby stroller arrived on Saturday. Shane had done some pretty extensive research on strollers, car seats and travel systems and this is the one we finally decided would work best for us. Of course, I just love that Jon Bon Jovi is the one who designed it--haha. Thank you to both Teresa and Sarah who checked on the stroller delivery. We never knew when it was going to be shipped.
Shane has also been diligently working on refinishing my and Christopher's baby cradle. It has been through some hurricane flooding, so it needs extra TLC. The stripping is complete, so next he'll be on to the sanding!
We worked on the nursery a bit too. I took inventory of the baby clothes we have received. You think you have so many things until you divide the clothes up into months. I do know at this point, this kid is going pantless the first year of his life--haha. We have all of the furniture pieces in place, now I just get to fill the drawers!
The best part of the weekend however was last night's Tar Heel victory over Dook! Go Heels!

Today's Check Up

Today was my scheduled 20-week check up. I was able to hear the baby's heartbeat. He was moving around so much we got an earful of more than just heartbeat sounds. The actual meeting with the doctor was pretty quick. He walked in and said, "You're perfectly healthy. Any questions?" He went over all of my stats with me, but there wasn't anything to really discuss since all of my tests, BP, weight and overall health are in great range. Those are the kinds of appointments I look forward to having. Shane is flying home this weekend, so we'll keep you posted on our baby projects.

Crib Time

So in our usual fast and furious nature, we walked into Baby Depot, picked out a crib, bought it, took it home and Shane put it together--whew! We have looked at cribs online and perused a few baby aisles before yesterday, but neither of us planned on getting the crib on our first time in the store. When we got home, Shane lugged it upstairs to the nursery and started putting it together. All of the movie scenes I've ever witnessed usually show a clumsy dad-to-be struggling with instructions and flailing about as the crib falls down all around him. I'm very proud to say that the Floydster Baby's Dad-to-Be knew exactly what he was doing. The crib was completely assembled in 30 minutes! I posted a few pics below of the crib activity as well as one of my growing baby bump. I had a few requests for that one :-)

It's a Boy!

Today was the official day we found out we're having a boy! I was a little worried we were not going to get to see everything because he was moving around so much. He was waving his hands, kicking his legs and moving his head back and forth the entire time the sonographer was trying to capture pictures. I can already tell he is just like his daddy--won't stay still! Everything was great at the appointment. He is developing right on schedule and he looks like a very healthy and active baby.
